    Notes
    • Scott and Lydia started out with only one horse and about $100. They farmed and raised some livestock for their own use. Scott cooked for the lumber camps all winter, and also for the river drive in the spring. Lydia and the children kept things running smoothly at home.

Scott and Lydia's second youngest child, Dalton, now owns the homestead, and the farm has since been purchased by John Bubar. Scott and Lydia moved from the homestead in 1946, to a house which Earl had built just at the bottom of the hill. Unfortunately Lydia died of a brain tumor in the fall of that same year. She is buried in the Upper Brighton Cemetery.

Scott lived alone in that house for seventeen years. During that time he had a housekeeper for about a year and a half - Mrs. Gussie Maskol. Eventually when he needed care, his daughter Ella took him for awhile. Arnie and Phoebe kept house for him until his death. He is buried beside Lydia in the Upper Brighton Cemetery.
